Two folk songs are combined to create this arrangement based on Psalm 23: the Scottish/Gaelic traditional tune Leaving Lismore (original words by Earlene Rentz) and an American folk tune with the Isaac Watts familiar hymn text My Shepherd Will Supply My Need. Sopranos and Altos initially introduce both tunes as a duet, and lower voices join later in creative harmonic movement. When both tunes are combined, lots of unison appears with more complex harmonies to follow. The focus of the arrangement is that the Lord restores our souls. In this incredibly difficult year, the restoration of our souls will likely come about as we walk in green pastures, valleys, and beside still waters.
