The graduating class of 2020 was the most unique in recent history. Students in every level of education were generally unable to graduate in a traditional graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Fortunately, educators have been some of the most creative individuals in history, and every possible attempt was made to demonstrate empathy amid disappointment. Students, teachers, and families were grieving the loss of celebrations that have represented success in educational accomplishments for generations. Their commencement into life’s next phase was bittersweet, as was the ending of their educational journeys. Greg Funderburk’s poignant words take us into the bittersweet days of disappointment, leading victoriously into a hopeful future of strength and purpose. A solo cello joins the journey with the voices.
