This Lakota Prayer is one of humility, with knowledge that the way we live our lives on earth will be known by the Great Spirit, whom we will meet at the end of the journey. It is important to sing these words in the context of living a life in the light of the Great Spirit, knowing the hardships of Native Americans, yet striving to be free of hatred and bitterness. Singers must not lose the inherent strength in this choral octavo. Though sung freely, the powerful words must remain central to the musical interpretation. Though no instruments are notated, feel free to add hand drum, if desired.
