The text for this octavo is by Frank Lebby Stanton, the first poet laureate of Georgia and a former writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. This poem was written in 1900, and has been a favorite of many in my home state. My mother had all of her students memorize this poem in elementary school, and to this day, many of her students tell me that it has been the one thing that has gotten them through the rough days in their lives. Written during the days of the coronavirus, it has been the same for me. I hope you and your singers will enjoy this inspirational poem, and claim it as your life’s motto.
