This arrangement is based on two old hymns: I Hear Thy Welcome Voice and the refrain of Softly and Tenderly. The combination of these two hymns is designed to be a plea from Jesus on the cross, as His welcome voice calls to us tenderly to “come home” to receive the perfect love and peace offered from His sacrifice. This arrangement is appropriate for the Lenten season or general worship. My goal has been to emphasize the love that is represented from the cross. Hence, I have changed the word “sinners” to “loved ones.” We all know we’re sinners, but sometimes we forget the immense love offered to us through the choice of Christ’s sacrifice that surrounds us constantly.
