This arrangement is based on two old hymns: I Hear Thy Welcome Voice and the refrain of Softly and Tenderly. The combination of these two hymns is designed to be a plea from Jesus on the cross, as His welcome voice calls to us tenderly to “come home” to receive grace. This arrangement is appropriate for the Lenten season or general worship. My goal has been to emphasize the love that is represented from the cross. I have changed the word “sinners” to “loved ones.” Sometimes we forget the immense love offered to us through Christ’s sacrifice.
