A well-known major choral work is Franz Schubert’s “Mass in G Major,” written when he was only 18 years of age. The “Benedictus” movement is for trio (Soprano, Tenor, and Bass) in the original score, yet works well for treble voicings in choral settings. The piano has been modified for clarity in supporting the choral voices. In addition, the original score’s return to the “Osanna in excelsis” contained in the “Sanctus” movement has been omitted. The translation: “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”
