This piece was inspired by the remarkable, resilient children who experienced such horrible times in Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. I was so moved when I heard about the children and their efforts in trying to find something to sing, play, and dance about. Their desire in trying to be happy again in the midst of such tragedy is an inspiration all. I hope ALL children (and adults!) will enjoy singing this piece, trying to find the “goodness” in life, even when bad things are happening to them. (recording is of the South Asheboro Middle School Honors Ensemble, Lisa Qualls, Conductor, Asheboro, North Carolina)
