    •  Text from Song of the Lotus Eaters by Lord Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892)
    •  Concert/Festival/Contest
    •  Performance time  4:20

This poem by Tennyson is filled with beautiful descriptions of nature, comparing music to petals of roses, night dews, shadowy granite, cool mosses, ivies creeping through moss, and other “sound-filled” descriptive nature “visuals.”  An advanced choir would likely enjoy creating the visuals through their singing.  The optional violin part only enhances the beauty of the Tennyson text.  Students will enjoy the challenge of the falling “water,” “creeping” ivy, and the poppies “sleeping”….all accomplished through the creative sounds of voices.
