This arrangement of the well-known Advent carol derived from plainsong is arranged with open harmonies and ostinati-type figures. Melody unisons are doubled throughout most of the piece. Your basses will enjoy singing the melody, as will your altos. The soprano joins the melody at times, but also serves as an obligato line in open harmony with the melody. The harmonies evoke the sights and sounds of Bethlehem, birthplace of the precious Christ Child.
