This traditional Irish Blessing makes a fine choral piece that will fit into almost any program, and its use may indeed create its own tradition among choral groups everywhere.  Although the text may be a bit unfamiliar (“May you always have work for your hands to do.  May your pockets always hold a coin or two.  May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.  May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain…”), it is a fitting blessing for all who are in attendance at choral concerts, including the participants.  All of these voicings are characterized by artfully simple voice parts and lush harmony.  The accompaniment provides fluid movement throughout the piece, and is most accessible.
