Isabella is running throughout this arrangement of a favorite French carol, hurrying to see the Christ Child in Bethlehem. The urgency of the exciting event is felt throughout the piece, and the singers encourage Isabella with “Run, Isabella, run!” An obligato flute part also runs along, and moves in duet with both piano and accompanying voices at times. Even though this text describes the birth of the Christ Child, alternate words have been created that make this arrangement appropriate for school settings as well.
